Fill out the form at the bottom of the page to sign up for this audition session. After you click “Send”, you will receive an e-mail with the Zoom link.
The Philadelphia Boys Choir is looking for boys who have musical and vocal potential, not necessarily a polished performance. Auditions are for boys in grades 1 through 5 for our young and intermediate training programs. Once accepted into the training programs, boys can potentially remain in the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale through 12th grade.
This initial audition process is very low-key. No musical training or preparation is necessary. All boys auditioning from your school will be in the Zoom session together, and each boy will be asked to sing a simple song that he knows (any song is fine) and repeat some simple singing exercises. Within two weeks after the audition, we will contact each parent by e-mail to let you know if your son can proceed to a final individual callback audition. For FAQ’s and information about the final callback audition, click here.
There is a fee for boys who enter the program, and financial aid is available to everyone who qualifies.
About the choir program
The musical opportunities that the boys experience are unmatched by any other group around. In 2019 alone, the Choir performed with the Pennsylvania Ballet, the Philly POPS, Opera Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Trailblazers in international touring, the Philadelphia Boys Choir has toured more than 50 countries, most recently in Italy in the summer of 2019.
Our rehearsal spaces, voice studios, and offices are located on the northern Avenue of the Arts corridor (Broad & Spring Garden). The location is highly visible and easily accessible by car and public transportation.
Currently, all rehearsals are being held via Zoom, as we prepare our newest boys to enter into the performing choir. For a sample of the performing choir’s recent virtual holiday concert, click here. And here’s a fun song we did last summer.
